In May, nature is bursting with life! To marvel, discover and inspire an even greater desire to preserve life, A Rocha invites you to take part in the Festival of Nature, which will be held from 21 to 25 May 2025.
The Nature Festival is an annual event: for five days, free activities allow everyone to experience nature first-hand. At A Rocha, we participate at our various sites and within the Ambassadors Network.

Butterfly watching (Domaine des Courmettes, 21 May)
We will set off on a walk lasting around 1½ hours (2 km, no elevation gain) to encounter butterflies and their fluttering colours! We will make frequent stops to observe and identify the butterflies, and discover their way of life through fun games. Butterflies will hold no more secrets for you! Don’t forget to bring water, sunscreen, a hat and walking shoes. If you have a camera, butterfly net, binoculars or identification guide, you are welcome to bring them along.
This outing is suitable for everyone, young and old alike.
The walk begins on Wednesday, 21 May at 2 p.m.
Please meet us in front of the reception area at Domaine des Courmettes, under the arcades, a few minutes before the start of the outing so that we can begin on time. Parking is available, and you are welcome to picnic beforehand at the tables in front of the large house.
In case of inclement weather, you will be notified of the cancellation of the outing by email the day before or on the day itself.
Postal address:
A Rocha – Domaine des Courmettes, Route de Courmettes, 06140 Tourrettes sur Loup.
Free event, registration required.
Observing nature through participatory science
Our Ambassador Network invites you to observe nature, wherever you are, through participatory science. Two suggestions:
Sauvages de ma rue
🌿 Locate and identify the plants growing in your street with the Sauvage de ma rue observatory. To do this, you will need a few forms, which are available to participants, and possibly a guide to identifying urban plants.
By participating, you will provide data that will help advance knowledge and understanding of species distribution in cities and the impact of these ‘urban gaps’ on biodiversity quality.
Opération papillons
🦋 Help scientists improve their knowledge of butterflies by taking part in Operation Butterflies, which involves counting butterflies in your garden, on your balcony or in a public park. Here too, counting and identification sheets are available to guide you.
Discover other events of the nature festival
From 21 to 25 May, events are being organised throughout France to celebrate nature! Discover local plants, listen to garden birds, enjoy a sensory walk, learn about bats and acoustics, uncover the secrets of the pond… there’s something for everyone!
Check out the official programme to see what’s happening near you, and join in, alone, with your family or with a local group.
