Climate, wildfires, heatwaves: let’s pray together

As metropolitan France suffocates under yet another heatwave since the start of summer — every department is under heatwave alert today and tomorrow (12-13 August) — as water shortages are cruelly felt, particularly in agriculture, and as wildfires have devastated and continue to devastate vast areas, we can easily feel powerless in the face of climate disruption and its consequences, which harshly affect both humans and the whole of creation.

In the face of these upheavals and climate injustice — for it is still the most vulnerable who suffer most from the greenhouse gas emissions for which the wealthiest are largely responsible — we invite you to take a moment to turn to God together. To ask for his forgiveness and help, to entrust him with our world and those who are suffering, and to ask him for wisdom, courage, and hope, so that our prayer may also nourish our action.

We invite you to an online prayer meeting this Friday, 14 August, with the prayer for creation community and A Rocha France’s network of ambassadors.

Friday 14 August, 6:00–7:00 pm on Zoom
(Register here)

A simple time to pray together, to listen, to give thanks, and to intercede for our planet, for people, and for biodiversity.

Whether you regularly take part in prayer for creation or this is your first time, you are welcome!

Looking forward to seeing you on Friday.
