A look back at summer camps

What's the common point between :

  • Children observing the incredible patterns on a butterfly’s wing?
  • In-depth teaching on the role of Christians in today’s environmental crises?
  • Lively discussions on the practical applications of these teachings?
  • A moonlit walk listening to the nighttime world?
  • Daily times of worship?
  • A natural gardening workshop?

Answer: These are all experiences you can enjoy by taking part in an A Rocha summer camp 😊

Once again this summer, participants in our various retreats left enriched with new ideas, encouraged by exchanges and sharing, equipped with new tools to live more closely in line with their ecological convictions, and renewed by times of worship and prayer.

Camps at les Courmettes

Four trips took place this summer at les Courmettes. More than a hundred participants of all ages came together for the Terre et Foi (Land and Faith) retreat, the annual training retreat for A Rocha Ambassadors, the Eco-Adventure and Adventure-Teens camp organized each year in partnership with La Ligue pour la lecture de la Bible (The League for Bible Reading), the seminar on Faith and Psychology, and, a first this year, during a week of hiking around Les Courmettes.

While some of those who signed up were regulars at our retreats, many others were discovering A Rocha for the first time. And some of our participants this year came from very far away! Special mention must go to our many volunteers who played a huge part in making these trips a success: a big thank you to them for their motivation and unfailing good humor!

Priscilla, who took part in one of this summer’s trips, shares her experience with us: “Les Courmettes was one of the most wonderful discoveries I’ve ever made, and the work you are doing there is beautiful.”

Camp in Brittany

For the first time this summer, A Rocha organized a week-long retreat in Brittany at the Milin Kerhé campsite in partnership with the local A Rocha Côtes d’Armor group. A dozen participants enjoyed a vacation together. Each day began with meditation on a Bible passage, songs, and prayers. The local group then offered a variety of activities, including nature walks, a race with rafts built on site, and a surprise evening hosted by a young couple who had just spent seven months in Cruzinha (A Rocha Portugal), where it all began.

The group had a wonderful week, richly blessed, where everyone formed bonds with several campers in this magnificent place. A few words from Marc and Helen, who led some of the activities: “This trip left us wanting to come back, which encourages us to repeat the experience.”

The 2025 season is coming to an end, but we will soon be thinking about 2026, so stay tuned if you too would like to come and experience one of these stays with us!

PS: The “Night World” week will not take place this year, but it is possible to come and stay at Les Courmettes on a self-catering basis (the deer will still be there 😉).
