Our internet searches generate revenue through sponsored links, advertisements, and data sales. These are colossal sums that are then reinvested in the activities of mega-corporations or end up in the pockets of shareholders. But today, it is possible to have a say in the redistribution of the revenue generated by our own internet activity thanks to the solidarity-based search engine Lilo.
Why use Lilo?
Thanks to the Lilo search engine, the income generated by your internet searches is converted into a donation that you can redistribute to A Rocha. This way, you can support biodiversity conservation at no cost to yourself (and, as an added bonus, Lilo does not sell your personal data).
How does it work?
For every search you do, you earn a drop that you can then donate to A Rocha or another charity of your choice. At the end of each month, 80% of Lilo’s profits are redistributed to participating charities based on the number of drops they have received.
Nothing could be simpler. Just set Lilo as your default search engine. To do this, click here and then click on Add Lilo to my browser. The exact wording of the phrase may vary depending on your browser. This will take you to your browser’s online store (Chrome Web Store, Google Play Store, etc.), where you can add the extension to your browser for free. Once you have completed this step, you will earn drops for every internet search you make.
Quick tip: when you start using Lilo, remember to log in using your email address so you don’t lose your drops if you change computers or uninstall Lilo. To do this, click on the character emoticon at the top right of your tab.
Then click on Log in/Sign up. Don’t worry, you can create your account using your personal email address, so there’s no need to create a new email address.
How do I give my drops to A Rocha France?
When you want to dispense your drops, click on your drop counter at the top right of your screen and go to I dispense my drops.
This will take you to the list of supported projects, where you can choose A Rocha France.
Once on our page, all you have to do is click on the Donate button!
You can also choose to automatically donate your drops to A Rocha by clicking on the Automatically donate my drops to this project button. That way, you can support us without even having to think about it!
