Why a prayer letter for God’s Creation?
As Christians, we believe that only God can save his Creation and that prayer is our most precious tool.
Our small gestures and actions, on a daily basis and as individuals, are essential, as are the larger-scale projects that we carry out in the various A Rocha organisations, but let’s remain humble: the task is far too great to succeed on our own!
As Christians, we have this hope of a God who makes the impossible possible, a God of miracles, a powerful God. We are therefore convinced that action and prayer cannot be dissociated: God calls us to take concrete action, in the world, so that he can have the ‘raw material’ to work his miracles. Although our actions, our small gestures, may seem derisory compared to the urgency of the environmental situation, we know that God can multiply the fruits. After all, from five loaves and two fishes, Jesus fed 5,000 people, and there were still leftovers that Jesus asked his disciples to pick up to avoid wasting (see the Gospel according to John, chapter 6)!
We have the same confidence, that by accompanying our actions with prayers, he will do the same for his Creation!
Praying also means opening up to the action of the Spirit, so that he can guide us in our personal transformations, renew our strength when discouragement strikes, reveal to us our individual and collective dysfunctions and inspire us on the path to take and the actions to undertake.
It is in this hope that we have launched this letter of prayer for Creation!
Prayer for the creation and work of A Rocha
Prayer for the authorities
Prayer for climate change
Prayer for a project / an environmental organisation / a citizens’ movement
Prayer for an endangered species/ecosystem
Prayer for repentance and personal transformation
