Today we want to talk to you about the awareness-raising work of A Rocha Île-de-France in churches in the Paris region.
Several interventions in churches
This year, the Île-de-France Local Group had the joy of speaking in four Parisian churches to raise environmental awareness. Members were able to preach on the theme of ecology in connection with the Christian faith. The group also participated in the Festival Terre d’Espérance, organized by the United Protestant Church of France. They witnessed God’s action during these powerful moments, with very positive feedback.
A sense of wonder emerged among some church members, particularly regarding the connections between ecology and our biblical responsibility as stewards of creation (Genesis 1:28). These preaching sessions surprised some by the complementarity between actions against climate change and their theological foundation, and brought the joy of seeing Christians take this issue to heart.
These interventions addressed an unspoken need: to connect climate justice and creation care to our faith. Thanks to their work, the message of creation care was heard by more than 230 people this year.
What's next ?
After a dynamic year, our Île-de-France Ambassadors are ready to embark on a new year alternating between outreach in churches and moments of fellowship. If you are interested in participating in their upcoming activities, please check out our calendar.
To conclude, here is a quote from Aïdanne, one of our Ambassadors:
“We are entitled as church members to share the issues we care about. There are many things we can do together as a church that calls for fellowship. We accept that the message may not be perfect from the start and that it will take shape over time, but the simple fact of being in a church and talking about God and his creation is good.”
So, a big thank you to the entire Paris team for all the work you do and for your faithful actions!
