Why the May Cycling Challenge?
Environmentally friendly, economical and good for your health, cycling offers many benefits in addressing today’s health, environmental and social challenges. For A Rocha, this ‘Cycle May’ challenge is a way of fulfilling our mission across the country: to engage Christians and protect the environment.
The aim of the ‘Mai à vélo’ initiative is to share and introduce as many people as possible to the various ways of using and enjoying cycling, across the whole region. The idea, of course, is to make cycling part of our daily lives!
What is the ‘Cycle in May’ challenge?
The May Cycling Challenge involves creating a friendly competition between several teams by encouraging them to cycle as many kilometres as possible between 1 and 31 May.
Kilometres are tracked using the Geovelo GPS app, which each participant can install and use to add their kilometres to the A Rocha France team.
A few rules for the challenge:
– All journeys made by bike are accepted: daily commutes, leisure rides, holidays, weekdays and weekends.
– All types of bikes are allowed, including bike-share bikes, e-bikes, cargo bikes, adapted bikes, tandems, etc.
– You can join the challenge until 31 May.
– You must enable location tracking on the Geovelo GPS app to record your journeys. This anonymous data will be recorded and counted towards the ‘May by Bike’ activity challenge.
