For four years now, our network of ambassadors has been committed to mobilizing Christians to preserve life. With more than 130 ambassadors throughout France, the network conducts awareness-raising activities in churches, at Christian events, and within local groups, calling on everyone to be salt and light in the world, including in their relationship with creation.
The ambassadors’ activities are varied, ranging from manning an A Rocha stand, to raising awareness in churches or elsewhere through workshops, round tables, or conferences, to collective action in projects to discover and protect nature.
Thanks to your help and loyalty, A Rocha was able to participate in more than 80 events, workshops, and church services in 2024. In total, more than 3,000 people were able to hear directly about God’s love for his creation. We couldn’t do this without your support, so a big thank you to each and every one of you!
The year 2024 also saw the creation of two new local groups: Strasbourg and Grenoble. Local groups are gatherings of Christians who meet locally to pray, share, and act on their faith and love for creation. We are grateful for their commitment and look forward to seeing them implement their upcoming projects.
The network also raises awareness online through monthly webinars that are open to everyone (and available to watch again on our YouTube channel). At the start of the year, we had three webinar sessions organized in partnership with Église Verte, focusing on the awareness-raising tool The Week. These three sessions were a big hit with the many participants! Our podcast, Comme une graine de moutarde (Like a Mustard Seed), also provides practical ideas for taking action and preserving life. This year, we have released ten episodes, which you can find on podcast platforms.
Exciting plans for the ambassador network in 2025.
In 2025, an online training course will be launched for both new and experienced ambassadors. This self-paced training will be available free of charge to all ambassadors and will consist of several short videos covering a wide range of topics and themes essential for ambassadors, from the Christian foundations of our commitment to the practical aspects of fieldwork.
The A Rocha team is attentive to the needs of our volunteers. After receiving numerous comments and requests from you, we have decided that the new year will also mark the launch of a new project to make resources available to young people.
And of course, we will continue our awareness-raising activities, starting with the annual study and meeting day of the Network of Evangelical Scientists, dedicated to environmental crises and Christian hope, on Saturday, January 18, in Paris and on Zoom. Through lectures and discussions, this day will be an opportunity to reflect on Christian responses in the context of climate crisis, biodiversity collapse, and resource depletion.
