The Ambassadors’ Notebooks are accounts of actions, challenges and experiences relating to raising awareness and caring for creation, as experienced by our Ambassadors. Today, Patricia from the Marseille local group tells us about a nature outing organised in collaboration with the future Forcalquier local group.
Meeting in Peyruis
On the initiative of Catherine and Nicolas, A Rocha Ambassadors in the Alpes de Haute Provence department, a meeting of ambassadors was held in the pretty village of Peyruis.
Like Catherine and Nicolas, five other ambassadors braved the rain and nine of us gathered in the heart of the village. Dominique, Morgana, Géraldine and myself, Patricia from the A Rocha Marseille group, and Philippe, Ambassador for Aix en Provence, carpooled to Peyruis. There we met Jean Claude and Marinette, from Neuchâtel in Switzerland.
An adorable sister from Peyruis, Catherine (yes, another one), gave us a warm welcome. She lent us a small studio where we were, fortunately, sheltered and warm.
After getting to know each other, everyone had the opportunity to share their group’s activities and projects.
We encouraged, congratulated and supported each other over a meal that everyone had brought along. Good humour, brotherly love and God were at the centre of our conversations.
Nature, discussions and fraternal communion
Thank God, the rain stopped in the early afternoon. We were able to discover the beautiful nature around the village of Peyruis and the history of its castle with our guides Catherine, Catherine and Nicolas. We had some amazing and fascinating encounters! Catherine is a fountain of knowledge when it comes to botany. She also organises workshops on creating and discovering flora. We also
spoke with a retired shepherd who has made it his mission to evangelise at the surrounding markets. We even sang in the little church in Peyruis: it was a real treat.
Our meeting ended with afternoon tea, during which we discussed Dave Bookless’s writings: Making a world of Difference. Nicolas also suggested discussing module 4 of the A ROCHA ambassador training course: being an ambassador.
In short, it was a beautiful day where life and our Creator were at the centre of our conversations. The fraternal communion and His magnificence made this gathering a truly special moment. Our wish is to meet again, to discover other wonders that only God knows. We want to pool our efforts to protect His creation, and even organise a joint initiative.
