During our latest webinar, our three guests discussed Katharine Hayhoe’s book Défi et espérance pour le climat (Challenge and Hope for the Climate), recently published by Éditions Bibli’O. Around fifty people took part in this online meeting and listened to the contributions of Jean-Philippe Barde, member of the FPF’s ecology and climate justice commission, Jacqueline de Bourgoing, president of Église verte, and Jean-François Mouhot, director of A Rocha France.
The webinar began with Katharine Hayhoe reading out answers she had sent us from the United States to questions we had asked her when the book was published.

One aspect of the book that struck our speakers was Katharine Hayhoe’s encouragement to find values and common ground with all our interlocutors, even those who could be described as ‘climate sceptics’, rather than approaching them in a confrontational manner. The author encourages us to build bridges and to show through our lives how Christian values can encourage action in a spirit of love, respect and justice. The guests also agreed that the book presents scientific facts and data in an accessible way, accompanied by numerous concrete examples, all rooted in Christian hope.
