Managing natural environments

As environmental awareness becomes more common within our society, the number of landowners, farmers and others who wish to put ecological principles in practice on their land continues to increase. A Rocha wishes to support these steps in favour of biodiversity by working with the environmental approaches of other landowners and farmers. To do this we offer these services:

• Evaluation of the natural heritage of a particular site
• Ecological diagnosis of activities
• Advice on nature-friendly land management
• Provision of environmental information
• Education on biological wealth of site
• Workshops of ecological restoration

These initiatives and actions find their expression in the form of different projects undertaken with the actors/ owners present in the two areas in which A Rocha has its bases (Vallée des Baux and Domaine des Courmettes):

Vallée des Baux

• Joint management of the Regional nature reserve ‘l’Ilon’
• Implementation of the management plan of the ‘marais de l’Etroit’
• Management of private land

Domaine des Courmettes

• Restoration of chalk pasture meadows
• Survey project of climate change in the Mediterranean
• Simple forest management plan
• Restoration and management of high-altitude wetlands
