Scientific work and surveys
Our research activity concentrates on projects in which scientific knowledge is necessary for conservation initiatives. Taking inventories and ecological surveys permits us to regularly evaluate the usefulness of the management strategies implemented on our sites.
This study work is carried out principally in the vallée des Baux where our team has collected data since 1998, and since 2008 also at the domaine des Courmettes (our centre in the hills above Nice).
A Rocha France also takes part in different research and monitoring projects at a local and a national level, notably:
- Ringing of birds and temporal survey of common birds in conjunction with the Museum of Natural History.
- Winter count of waterfowl with Wetlands International,
- Atlas of Regional Birds and various national enquiries with the LPO (League for the protection of birds) and the CEEP.
All of our work is supported by the participation of many friends, volunteers and interns, whose technical training and field training we provide.
