A Rocha at the ECEN to talk about the European Green Deal
The European Christian Environmental Network (ECEN) is holding its 2021 Assembly from 31 May to 1 June under the theme: ‘”Reconciled with creation: a call for urgent action on climate and biodiversity.”
Because of the health situation in Europe it will be an online conference, enabling many to participate without having to travel.
The two day webinar will focus churches’ action in promoting a more sustainable future, and A Rocha is involved. Andy Atkins, director of A Rocha UK, will take part in a panel discussion “The European Green Deal and the Role of Churches”. Laura Morosini, general secretary of Église Verte is also participating in the discussion on “Churches‘ Action and Commitment in Responding to Climate Change”.
The ECEN Assembly will present the practices of European churches, as they are increasingly engaged in addressing the challenges of climate change and ecological crisis. Care for creation has become a visible commitment of the churches in recent years. The Assembly will offer an opportunity to highlight important aspects of these concerns from a Christian perspective. It will also underline that care for creation is an intrinsic part of Christian faith and, as such, offers an opportunity for a broad ecumenical cooperation. The exchange of experiences, networking and mutual support to strengthen creation care efforts will continue to be the focus of the ECEN Assembly.
