Publication: “L’écologie, parlons-en !” (Let’s talk about Ecology)
The degradation of our environment, and in particular climate change, is a burning issue. But it is not always easy to address the subject of the ecological crisis in the Church! On this subject as on others, Christians who read the same Bible sometimes draw very different conclusions. If ecology were merely a peripheral issue to the Church’s mission, with no real link to the gospel of Jesus, it might be a mistake to give it too much attention. But, as Paul explains in his letter to the Colossians, the gospel of Christ has profound implications, not only for human beings, but for the whole cosmos.
This booklet, co-authored by A Rocha with contributions from Rachel Calvert and others, has been produced to enable churches to talk about ecology, putting the gospel at the centre of our approach. It aims to encourage reflection, prayer, mutual listening and action. The booklet can be used, for example
- in large groups (with some small group work for some sequences)
- as a support for a church weekend
- as a resource for house groups or weekday study groups
- in pairs, as part of a discipleship process
The four modules are each designed to last 1h15-1h45. The facilitator can select the resources and activities that seem to be most suitable for their group.
This study guide on the Bible and the environment is available here at the price of 6€.
